iPhone 13 No Service? Fix It Yourself

You may see the “No Service” notification on your iPhone 13 when it is unable to connect to your cellular service provider.

This can happen if live in an area with a weak cell phone reception or it could be because of buggy software or incorrectly configured network settings.

If this is something that happens a lot, you may want to check if the network is the issue. But if it started happening suddenly, then the solutions in this article may be very helpful to you.

Check the Network Coverage Area

The first thing you want to do when faced with this issue is to check the network coverage in your area.

There is an easy way to do this, just turn off cellular data and then back on again.

To do that on your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular Data.”

If you are travelling, make sure that you are using data roaming. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming.

If turning cellular data on and off doesn’t work, you may want to check for a carrier settings update. To do this, follow these simple steps;

Step 1: Ensure that the device is connected to a Wi-Fi cellular network.

Step 2: Then tap on Settings > General > About and you should see an option to update the carrier settings.

You can go to Settings > General > About to see the version of carrier settings for your device.

Please note that if you insert a new SIM card into your iPhone, you may need to download the carrier settings for the new carrier.

If the problem is not the carrier settings, your device may be experiencing some software problems.

In this case, the best thing to do would be to restart the iPhone. A restart will refresh the device and hopefully remove any system errors that could be affecting the device.

To do this, go to Settings > General > Shut Down and then drag the power icon to the right to turn off the device.

When the screen goes dark, wait at least 30 seconds and then press and hold the Side button to reboot the device.

If a restart doesn’t work or the “No Service” problem also causes your device to freeze, thereby preventing it from turning on normally, then a force-restart may be a good solution.

Here’s how to force restart your iPhone depending on the device model;

iPhone 8 and newer models; Press and release the Volume up button. Then press and release the volume down button. Press and hold the Side button until the Apple Logo shows up on the screen.

Remove and Re-insert SIM Card

Another way that you can quickly fix this problem is by removing and then re-inserting the SIM card on to your device.

To do this easily, use the SIM ejector tool or a paperclip. The SIM tray on your iPhone 13 will be on the left of the device.

While you have the SIM tray open, you may also want to clean the contact points on the SIM card with a clean dry cloth.

This is to ensure that dust is not affecting the function of the SIM card.

Conflicting network settings can also cause problems with the network configuration and even affect how the device connects to your cellular network.

A new version of the iOS firmware can also introduce bug fixes that can eliminate software-related issues that could be causing the “No Service” problem.

If you haven’t updated the iOS system lately, go to Settings > General > Software Update and then tap “Download and Install.”

Restore Your iPhone via iTunes/Finder

Restoring your iPhone in iTunes should be a last resort, although it can be a very effective solution when you all other solutions don’t work.

It is a solution that can easily eliminate all software bugs and restore the device to normal function.

The following steps will show you how to restore your iPhone in iTunes;

Step 1: Connect the iPhone 13 to the computer using its USB or lightning cable.

Step 2: Then, open iTunes on your computer and then wait for the program to recognize the connected iPhone.

Step 3: Choose the iPhone from the list of devices when it appears in iTunes and when prompted, choose backup to back up the device to your computer.

Step 4: Once the backup process is complete, click on the “Restore” button to reset the iPhone.

Step 5: Click “Restore” again when prompted and confirm the action. iTunes will then begin downloading and installing the new software on your iPhone. When the process is complete, you can set up your iPhone as new.

Contact the Carrier

If all the solutions above don’t work and you’re still unable to get service, you may wany to contact your carrier. Ask your carrier to confirm the following;

  • That your account is in good standing and active
  • That there are no service outages in your area
  • That your iPhone isn’t blocked from receiving cellular services and that you are using the right data plan.
