Pokémon GO Community Day is a monthly event that highlights a specific Pokémon as a way to encourage players around the world to play together.
As you can probably guess, this event is often very popular, with players wanting to know when the next event will be so they can benefit from the increased spawns of the Pokémon in question.
Here, we examine the Pokémon GO Community Day, what it is and how you can take advantage of it for the better.
What is Community Day in Pokémon GO?
The Pokémon GO Community Day happens every month on a weekend and for a total of 6 hours. In addition to increased spawns of the highlighted Pokémon, players also get a number of bonuses including double XP, Lure Modules and Stardust.
These bonuses are incentives to get players out and playing. The highlighted Pokémon also have an increased chance of being shiny and the ability to reach the Pokémon’s evolution.
It is therefore a great way to get rare resources and a rare version of the highlighted Pokémon. But it is also a good way to team up with other players.
With other Pokémon GO Players out and about with you, it will be much easier to coordinate Raids and participate in Trades.
Pokémon GO’s Next Community Day
The next Pokémon GO Community Day will take place on September 19th 2021 at 11am- 5pm local time. The featured Pokémon will be Oshawott, which is a water-type otter and a member of Unova’s Starter Pokémon trio.
The following is a breakdown of everything that will be happening on Oshawott Community Day;
Special Move
Like every other Community Day, this one will also have a special move. By evolving Oshawott to its final form Samurott, you can learn Hydro Cannon. This is one of the best water-type moves in the game, and therefore worth the effort.
You can get these special moves at the start of the event at 11am until two hours after the event, at 7pm local time. Razor Shell is also being added to Samurott movepool. This is not a special Community Day move and should be available after the event.
The following bonuses will also be available on Community Day;
- Triple XP for all catches made on the event day
- Incense and Lure Models will be activated for 3 hours during the event. Rainy Lure Modules will also attract Oshawott.
- The number of Oshawott in the wild will also be boosted
- The shiny variant of Oshawott will be released and shiny odds will be significant
- There will also be a snapshot surprise. If past events are anything to go by, it will be Oshawott that will photobomb your snapshots and it will happen in the wild. You will likely do this up to 5 times.
Shop Box
There will be a Community Day box in the in-game shop to help you get everything you need for the event. The community box for this Community Day will include the following;
- 5x Lucky Egg
- 50x Ultra Ball
- 5x Rainy Lure Module
- 1x Elite Fast TM
You can also choose to purchase Oshawott stickers in the shop, although they may also be at PokéStops.
Quests
This Community Day will have both Special Research and Field Research tasks. Here’s what to expect;
Field Research
Your task will probably be to catch three of the featured Pokémon and the following are the rewards that you can expect;
- Great Balls
- Ultra-Balls
- Stardust
- Pinap Berries
- Golden Razz Berries
- Additional encounters with the featured Pokémon
Special Research
Before the event begins, a ticket will be available in the shop for about $1 that you can use to access the Special Research questline. The Special Research in this event is “From Scalchops to Seamitars.”
You don’t need to complete the Special Research before the end of the event and it will only be available to those who purchase a ticket.
Use Multiple-Device Function of MockGo to Play with Friends
If you want to spoof your location on Community Day, you can use the “Manage Multiple Devices” feature on MockGo to play with friends. Here’s how this feature works;
Step 1: Open MockGo and click on the “Manage Multiple Devices” icon at the bottom right of the screen.
Step 2: In the window that appears, click in “Add” to add a new device. Connect the device to the computer and wait for the program to detect it.
Step 3: You should see all connected device with either “Controlled” or “Uncontrolled Status.” Controlled means that the device is using a virtual location. To change the status of any of the connected devices, simply click on the “Controlled” or “Uncontrolled” button.
Step 4: Choose the device you want to modify and then select the mode to spoof the location.
