Pokémon GO was always meant to get you out and about and with Adventure Sync, now there is a way you can keep track of all the walking you do while playing the game.
More than just keep track of the distances you cover; Adventure Sync offers a number of rewards based on the distances covered. The further you walk, the bigger the reward.
Here, we take a look at this feature in greater detail to help you determine the rewards you can get from this feature as well as how to set it up.
Adventure Sync is a Pokémon GO feature that connects to Google Fit Android or Apple Health for iOS to help you keep track of your health data. It was launched in 2018 and it is available for free.
It uses the GPS on device and data from fitness apps like Google Fit and Apple Health. You get in-game credit based on the distance you walked, when Pokémon GO was not open on your device.
Adventure Sync has two major components including the following;
Even if you choose not to enable Adventure Sync, you will see a new goal in the trainer stats screen. this feature will credit all kilometers walked towards your weekly walking goal.
The reward tiers cover 5KM, 25KM or 50KM covered each week and you accumulate the distance when the Pokémon GO app is open or active in the background or of Adventure Sync is enabled, even when the app is closed.
Rewards are paid out at the end of each week, meaning that even if you hit your goal mid-week, you will still have to wait until the end of the week to get the rewards.
When Adventure Sync is enabled on the device you will be able to grant Pokémon GO permission to access fitness data from Android's Google Fit or iOS HealthKit fitness trackers.
Activity from these trackers will be credited towards the distance covered in the game even if Pokémon GO is closed.
Adventure Sync rewards are based on the distance covered in the past week. Here's what you get for the corresponding distance covered;

If Adventure Sync is not working, the following are some of the actions you can take;
It is possible that a recent update may have disabled Adventure Sync. Open the settings in Pokémon GO and make sure that Adventure Sync is enabled.
If you find that Adventure Sync is not tracking your progress, it is likely that you have not granted the necessary permissions.
The process to grant the necessary permissions is different for iOS and Android devices, but we recommend going back to the device's settings to adjust the permissions that Pokémon GO has.
If you think the actual distance, you have covered hasn't been credited in Adventure Sync, give the process some time as there can be a delay in crediting the distance to Adventure Sync.
Please note however that some battery saver settings can also affect how Adventure Sync work. Any extra data that you manually enter into a fitness tracker will also not be counted.
